Friday Jul 27, 2018
Friday Jul 27, 2018
When was the last time you heard the story of Star Wars? Now a days, not so much. But a long time ago, before the home video revolution, records were our way of reliving the Star Wars saga.
Today on GeekFest Rants Carlos breaks out the turntable (google it kids) to go over all the different kinds of record versions of the Star Wars story. Plus we'll look at the most modern entries into this medium.
Then we will profile the fantastic contributions made by Colin Cantwell into the creation of Star Wars. From his conceptual art to his kit bashed models.
Alongside with Ralph McQuarrie, Cantwell is yet another creative, inspirational giant behind the final look of the Star Wars universe.

Geekfest Rants Ep.350: 2001-2010 - Films - Books - Comics
Saturday Jun 30, 2018
Saturday Jun 30, 2018
When it comes to the building blocks of modern science fiction, for at least people our age, in their 40's, it all starts with 2001 A Space Odyssey. Join Carlos at GeekFest Rants as we dip our toe into the ocean that is 2001. From the film by Stanley Kubrick, to the novel by Arthur C. Clarke, to the comic book adaptation by Jack Kirby, how are they the same and different. And lest we forget the cinematic sequel 2010 The Year We Make Contact. Does this Roy Scheider vehicle live up to the monolithic original? Pun intended. Does this 50 year old film still hold up?
