Today on GeekFest Rants we return for a visit to posters of the month.  Join Carlos as he delves into Rogue One and Solo.  This brings us to a more modern look at poster design and it's creators.  Plus, we get some poster design controversy....yes there is such a thing.  Then we go over some of our favorite Boba Fett Hasbro action figures, plus a few fan made ones too.

When it comes to the building blocks of modern science fiction, for at least people our age, in their 40's, it all starts with 2001 A Space Odyssey.  Join Carlos at GeekFest Rants as we dip our toe into the ocean that is 2001.  From the film by Stanley Kubrick, to the novel by Arthur C. Clarke, to the comic book adaptation by Jack Kirby, how are they the same and different.  And lest we forget the cinematic sequel 2010 The Year We Make Contact.  Does this Roy Scheider vehicle live up to the monolithic original?  Pun intended.  Does this 50 year old film still hold up?

Today on GeekFest Rants, Carlos looks at both sides of the Star Wars fandom coin, the positive fan gatherings like Star Wars Celebration and the flip side with the ugly newer toxic fandom incidents.  This non traditional Star Wars fan behavior seems to have been gathering steam most recently with the new Disney/Lucasfilm films like The Force Awakens and culminating with The Last Jedi and Solo.

Instead of traditional thoughtful story and character analysis we now have a new wave of hatred towards this franchise rooted in racism, sexism, and general intolerance.  What's at the root of this behavior?  And, can we ever get back to the open, inclusive, safe environment that Star Wars has always been?
