Geekfest Rants Ep.452: Star Trek and Star Wars Posters - J. W. Rinzler

Today on GeekFest Rants Carlos will highlight two new posters.  First up is the Star Trek: The Motion Picture teaser poster by John Berkey. 

Then we have a Star Wars Proctor & Gamble point of purchase poster by Ken Glodammer. 

Finally we'll cover the sad news of the passing of writer J. W. Rinzler.  We'll look back at his days at Lucasfilm publishing to his most recent making-of film books.

Due to some unseen complications on the homefront we weren't able to produce a new show this week.

Hopefully we'll be back on track soon but if you guys knew the depth of my despair you'd be happy that I haven't jumped off the roof off yet.. (I'm kidding but only a little) 

Anyhow, enjoy this blast from the past where we take a look at the 1st Ten flicks in the 5 Mic Movie Hall Of Fame... Let's see what I had to say about all this at the time...

We have a super fun show ahead of us this week. We start off with me mopping up after last week's incident with the mini-sub. Iceberg and Emily are both there. It's a fun heartfelt moment in time..

 

From there we talk about a movie I saw called Ralph Breaks The Internet. It's the sequel to Wreck It Ralph. It was a lot of fun.

 

For the main event of the show we tackle something that we should have done a long time ago, The Inaugural Class Of The 5 Mic Movie Hall Of Fame. This week we go over 10 movies that should have been in from the jump. Next week we will do 10 more.. 

 

In the final segment we take some texts and have a great time listening to those. There is also some toy talk and stuff like that!

Hey kids! This week on Worlds Famous we start off at the arcade where your dude plays some Ms. Pacman on a left handed machine.. 

From there we open up some Rocketeer Cards in search of the vaunted Jenny Blake Rookie Card.. 

Then we talk MOTU and open up a DC Primal Age Figure. Primal Age was so great! Why was it cancelled? So sad.

Toward the end of the show we head to the flea-market and then take a look at out animal spirit guide for the week.

We are back from a short break and this time we are going to look at some crime thriller mysteries on TV.  We begin with The Head, a murder who-done-it with some The Thing vibes. 

Then, The Fall with Gillian Anderson in another fantastic performance.  Yes this is the same Gillian Anderson from The X-Files. 

Then we move on to Mare of Easttown with Kate Winslet.  A good surprise from this ex-Titanic star. 

And finally we get Clarice.  The latest incarnation of the ongoing Silence of the Lambs universe.

Hey kids! We are back for another installment of Classic Geekfest Rants! This time around we're gonna give a listen to episode 211.  It's about Miami Vice. Let's see what Carlos had to say at the time....

Today we remember a time where a television show inspired men to wear white Italian linen suits over pastel T-shirts while wearing imported shoes with no socks.  To sport a five o'clock shadow 24/7 and to drive expensive sports cars.....well....maybe getting the cars was a little more difficult.  

We are of course talking about Miami Vice, the 1984 cop show that upped the ante on the modern cop show.  For years we had different versions of gritty cops but now we had the cool cops.  

From music, to fashion, to action, Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas became television stars and Miami Vice became the latest evolution of the American cop show.  Join us today as Carlos and James take a ride to Miami Vice.

Geekfest Rants Ep.448: Star Wars and 2001 Posters, MOTU and G.I. Joe Figures

It's time for Posters of the Month:  Today at GeekFest Rants, Carlos will profile three new genre posters.  The first Star Wars Fan Club exclusive McQuarrie poster, the Star Wars children immunization poster, and the 2001: A Space Odyssey bathroom instructions poster. 

Then we take a look at two of the biggest rivals of the Star Wars Kenner figure line, Mattel's Masters of the Universe and Kenner's G.I Joe. 

We purchased two figures to represent those lines from the newly recreated vintage style assortment.
